Katie Holmes has once again been bitten by the style bug. Katie made her way around the city on December 29 paying tribute to the 70’s with her breezy bell bottom jeans, made über authentic with distressed holes and tears on the legs (get the look with 7 For All Mankind’s classic Flare Denim with Crystals in Annapolis).
Yet another item that could have been resurrected from Tom’s high school wardrobe, but I’m loving the leggy look on Katie’s tall frame. Thoughts? Katie paired her funky flares with a long gray tunic (like PGD Style’s Macy Lacey Tunic in Smoke), slouchy black sweater (try the super comfy Long Chunky Cable Jacket in Black by Gold Hawk) and her trademark round sunnies, wearing a skinny patterned scarf (check out A Graves’ Sparrow Scarf in Purple) as her only accessory.
The over-all result is super comfy, casual and perfect for a mild winter day running errands, no? As I’m sure you’re aware, Katie celebrated her 30th birthday earlier this month, and with her increasing maturity comes wisdom. Katie recently took the opportunity to set the record straight about her past with Tom, sitting down for an interview with The New York Times Style Magazine. For a change, Katie confidently asserted herself: “There’s a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn’t have any control of her life. And that’s pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I’ve made choices in my life that have been very strong.” There’s no question who wears the pants in her marriage, but I do think there might be some truth to what she’s saying.
After all, it was Katie who uprooted the fam to NYC for the past few months so she could live out her dream to act on Broadway, and in contrast to the talons Tom usually has sunk into her, she’s been seen out and about solo countless times in the Big Apple. What do you think – has Katie been making her own decisions all along, or is she merely Tom’s puppet?
